Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a note from a doctor before I make an appointment with an Athletic/Massage Therapist?

No, you do not require a prescription to come and see an Athletic Therapist. However, many insurance plans do require a prescription from a physician before they will cover the service. Please check with your insurance provider as every plan is different.

Does Manitoba Health cover the cost of my treatment?

Manitoba Health does not cover athletic or massage therapy at a private clinic. Most extended health insurance plans do cover all or a percentage of Victoryʼs services. Please check with your insurance provider to see what your plan covers.

Do you direct bill my insurance?

At this time we do direct bill Blue Cross!  If you are not with Blue Cross, that means that you will be responsible for submitting your invoice to your insurance company. Fortunately, this process is fast and easy and you are typically reimbursed in a very short period of time. If you have any questions about submitting your invoices we will be happy to answer them.

What should I expect on my first athletic therapy visit?

The first visit is an initial assessment. Your therapist will assess the problem, educate you about the problem and often provide treatment that same visit. This appointment will take 60-75 min.

The initial appointment will consist of a detailed history and physical assessment, often providing you with a home program. All your questions will be answered as clearly as possible. You should leave your initial assessment with a good understanding of the problem and what you can do at home to work towards getting yourself to better health.

What should I bring to my first appointment?

Most of the time we require you to bring nothing at all. We recommend that you bring indoor shoes, come wearing clothes you are comfortable being active in, and bring a water bottle if you like. Please arrive wearing a face mask, however if you do not have one with you we will provide you with one upon your arrival. If you are a WCB or MPI client, be sure to bring in all the necessary paperwork, as well as your claim number.

What should I wear to my treatment?

Comfortable leisure/active wear such as shorts and a t-shirt/tank top are appropriate for most treatments.

How early should I show up to my appointment?

We ask that clients show up approximately 10 minutes before their scheduled treatment time when possible.
